Uhm, What Day is Today?

Spending half a week in the hospital, and counting time in two-hour feedings instead of days has me all mixed up. I didn’t even realize Memorial Day or my brother-in-law’s birthday (sorry Aaron) was coming until Friday afternoon. I thought it was all a week away still.

What happened to the month of May? I had a birthday, then I had a baby, and now May is almost over and done with.

Time flies when you’re changing diapers.

I spent the weekend unpacking, sorting, washing and putting away the stash of baby stuff that was in our attic. I saved just about everything from David’s infancy. Maybe too much. You can’t imagine the number of boxes I went through. And since David was born in the dead of winter and Wade arrived just on the cusp of summer, the clothes are all pretty much useless. Wade would have a permanent case of heat rash if I put David’s fleece blanket sleepers on him.

I see a lot of Ebay in my future.

Oh, and the crib is assembled. Now we just have to paint and put down the carpet, then Wade will actually haveĀ  a room.

The rest of the house is a mess, but let’s not talk about that.

It’s a relief to get this stuff finished. I was beginning to think since Wade was born a month early we were going to be a month behind for the rest of the poor kid’s life.

It’s hard to believe Wade was two weeks old on Sunday. According to the calendar on my fridge we should be preparing this week for the C-section next Tuesday.

Wade and I both had our two week follow-up appointments today. He gained one pound and an ounce, and he grew an inch, but he’s only in the tenth percentile on the charts. That’s quite a contrast to big brother David who’s always been in the 95th percentile or higher.

They weighed me at my appointment also, but let’s not talk about that either. I have the all clear to start walking for exercise again, and I’ll start my diet tomorrow after I finish off the bag of Oreos in the cookie jar tonight.

I see Weight Watcher’s Online in my future too.

Giving birth is sort of a good diet plan. I looked in the mirror recently and thought, “Wow, I look so skinny compared to a few weeks ago. I actually have a waist. Where did that come from? Are those my toes down there? I can see my toes! Hello, toes! How I’ve missed you!”

That’s starting to wear off a little now that I’m two weeks postpartum and everything has deflated and gone south. Since 3/4 of your body is already numb why can’t they just include a total body lift along with the C-section?

Or at least a tummy tuck?

Oh, gotta go. I think someone’s hungry.

Let’s see…

If it’s feeding number eight times two hours it must be…Tuesday?
