Stupid is as Stupid Does
Well, who can forget that famous quote from Forest Gump? “Stupid is as stupid does.” I’ve been thinking about that a lot today, because I did something really stupid.
I didn’t mean to. In fact, I had nothing but good intentions when I did it. However, if I’d taken pause to think first, I probably would have realized I was doing something dumb, and stopped myself.
I tried to correct it, and I apologized, but the damage is still done. Now I just feel like an idiot, and want to crawl into a hole and hide. I should have known better.
I see my son do this all the time. He gets in trouble for something he should know is wrong. A lot of times he just doesn’t think first, does it, then realizes too late the error of his ways. I expect that of a three year-old. I’m 33 years old. I really should have learned my lesson a long time ago about thinking before acting.
Proverbs 13:16 says, “Every prudent man acts out of knowledge, but a fool exposes his folly.” Maybe I’ll remember this the next time I’m about to do something foolish.

Oh don’t worry, we all do it! I have caught myself lately even more without thinking, just blurting it out, very very bad. Is it baby brain that sucked all of my intelligence cells out?
I could have written this blog post today. I did something really stupid today, I tried to apologize and I’m feeling pretty dumb for not having thought it through first. So thanks for writing exactly what I’m feeling! It’s a good thing we aren’t expected to be perfect.
