Singin’ in Dixie

Hey, y’all!

I’ve got some exciting news to share.

My husband, Dave, was asked to go down to Knoxville, TN to audition for a Southern Gospel Quartet that tours nationally, year-round. Currently he’s singing with a regional group that performs a couple weeks a month.

Music has always been Dave’s first love, and he’s dreamed of being able to do it full-time. He sent out a demo tape weeks ago. We were so surprised when we got the call last Thursday.

So, this week we’re taking a road trip south of the to Knoxville, TN.

It will be a quick trip, but it should be a lot fun.

I love Tennessee. It’s such a beautiful place. We’re hoping to fit in a visit to the Great Smokey Mountain National Park. And we plan on swinging by Livingston, TN on the way home, where Dave’s great-grandparents and several other relatives lived, to do some genealogy research.

We’re excited about this opportunity. But I also know that should he end up taking the position of tenor with this quartet, it will lead to big changes for our family. He’ll be away from home a lot, and it would probably mean a move from Michigan to Tennessee in the near future.

We are seeking God’s will, and certainly his counsel should there be decisions to be made. If you think of us, say a little prayer for us next week.

I’m taking my laptop with me, and I’ll try to post some updates if I can find a Wi-Fi connection. Since this is an unplanned trip, it’s also an unbudgeted trip. The Hilton Grand downtown was a little expensive, so we’ll be roughing it at Motel 6. Not sure Motel 6 has Wi-Fi.

You laugh, but Motel 6 is as close as I get to camping out.

I’ve got some auto-posts set up to keep you entertained if I can’t find the Internet down there.

I’m gonna go Google Bar-B-Que joints in Knoxville now.

Oh, yeah!

Lookin’ forward to that too.

My mouth is watering already.

How exciting. I truly believe everything happens for a reason. If this comes about for your husband, I imagine you’re in for something wonderful new things!

Don’t forget about Priceline. Bidding on a hotel is a lot cheaper in my experience. We usually pay $59 and no more than $79 for a three star hotel (NICE ONES).
