Write a Haiku Weekly Challenge: Back-to-School

Last week I posted a haiku because I was out of blog ideas. I admit it kind of started out as a joke, but it turned out to be really fun. Some of you said you wanted to write a haiku too. So how about a weekly haiku challenge? Want to join in? Write a haiku on the week’s topic, post it to your blog and link your post below. Don’t have a blog? Post your haiku on Twitter or Facebook and link up. You can even post your haiku in the comments.

To review in case you missed it last week, a haiku poem has five syllables in the first line, seven in the second and five in the last. It seems simple, but the challenge is to see how much you can say in 17 syllables.

This week’s topic: Back-to-school. Maybe you don’t have kids in school, but I bet you have memories from your school days.

First Day of School

Fresh box of crayons.

New tennis shoes, new t-shirt.

Possibilities.

Now it’s your turn!
