1. Did you know you should not watch Where the Red Fern Grows with your 4-year-old son when you are full of raging pregnancy hormones, and your own aging dogs are lying at your feet? I could not stop sobbing. I think David was a little worried about his Mommie.
2. Did you know Mom is the one who gets stuck eating the rest off the Extra-Value size box of cereal after everyone else is tired of eating it for breakfast? I never want to see Fruity Pebbles again.
3. Did you know after 12 — Wait 13? No 11. Yes it’s 11. After 11 years of marriage you have to stop and count on your fingers to remember for sure how long it’s been?
4. Did you know Tom and Jerry is just as entertaining as it was 30 years ago, and so much less annoying than SpongeBob? Bless the people at Cartoon Network.
5. Did you know despite an article that I read that said children do not learn new words from watching TV, they do in fact learn new words from watching TV? Horrendous, kooky, and boo-yah were added to the vocabulary this week.
6. Did you know they will then use those words to tell you they don’t want to eat their lunch because it is “horrendous”, you are “kooky” for expecting them to get dressed in the morning, and praise you with “boo-ya Mommie” when you offer them a cookie for a snack?

#2 definitly hits a nerve with me! At our house growing up, all cereal was purchased in the jumbo “best value” size and no new cereal was purchased until the old box as finished. And since someone ALWAYS left the bag open in the box, the cereal’d go icky after a few servings.
Now, buy comparatively smallish cereal boxes, make sure I’m the first one to open them (so I get the best yummy cereal!), and have NO PROBLEM throwing away the box if there’s only old yucky cereal left that no one wants.
Sometimes, you DO remember what bugged you growing up and you CAN change it! (-:

I’m giggling at the new vocabulary words and how quickly my nephew has learned to use them in a sentence. He’ll do great in school.
I’m imagining how well he would adapt to the new Aussie slang his Uncle and I will teach him. We still need to work on “G’Day, Mike!” It is “Mate”. . . not “Mike”. The Wiggles would shudder.
Thank you! I needed that little giggle!

Glad I could make you smile!
I went through my Fruity Pebbles kick a few weeks ago. The one thing I can’t have enough of is cucumber! I’m a freak!

That movie made me cry too! My son loved the book, so he made me watch the movie.
Mommies do end up eating all the leftovers that everyone else doesn’t want.
I keep forgetting how long I’ve been married too. It’s hard to remember after this long, lol!
