Blog Hop ’09

Hi there!

Welcome to my Blog Hop post!

I’m Colleen,

twitpic

and I’m not partying in Chi-Town this week at the BlogHer Conference, because I just had a baby two months ago. He was actually only supposed to be a month old right now, but he couldn’t wait to get here. I didn’t want to leave my little Wade, and if I had a hotel room all to myself? Well, as the exhausted mom of a newborn, I’d probably just end up sleeping the entire time anyway.

I also have a 4 1/2 year old, David, and a really great husband, Dave, who lets me sleep in when the baby keeps me up all night.

If you’ve never been by before, Mommie Daze is about my life as a SAHM, and what I affectionately call The Fog of Motherhood.

You’ve heard of the Fog of War right? In the heat of battle soldiers get confused and don’t know who they’re shooting at or what’s happening around them.

Well, some days motherhood is like that.

You know.

Like when the baby is screaming for a bottle, but they’re all in the dishwasher and it’s only halfway through the cycle, the dog is throwing up the Happy Meal toy he ate on the beige carpet, and the pre-schooler is running around the house with your bra on his head singing the theme song to SpongeBob as loud asĀ  he can.

All. At. The. Same. Time.

You don’t know whether to laugh, cry, put someone in time-out or just curl up in the bathtub in the fetal position.

That’s the Fog of Motherhood.

For those of us not livin’ it up in Chicago, Robin of Pensieve and Musings of a Housewife are hosting Blog Hop ’09. Want to join in? Link-up here.

You made me LOL with the image of your son running around singing Sponge Bob with a bra on his head … not that I could relate or anything :D

Welcome to some adult conversation this weekend :) I would have been terrified by the shear number of people at BlogHer. That’s why I’m quite cozy with my computer :D

The fog of motherhood really sums it up, doesn’t it?

My middle child came a month early — on Christmas DAY no less. GAH. Those babies have a way of doing their own thing, don’t they?

Maybe next year we’ll all be at BlogHer…

Nice to meet you!

I can definitely relate to the Mommy Fog. I thought you came out of it as your kids got older, but so far it hasn’t happened!

Your post made me giggle because I can just see all that chaos in my head…what a picture!

Things are crazy here always too!

Wait, have you been to my house? Cause that is totally something I could see happening here on a daily basis (and stuff like that does happen here. More often than I’d like to admit!)

Nice to ‘meet’ you! I’m with you on the sleeping all weekend if I had a hotel room. Maybe that could be an idea for a new ‘conference’…Mommy Sleeps ’09! ;)

Hello from Bloghop, it’s nice to meet you. That is such a sweet pic of your boys. I only have one dd, 8yrs old, I certainly don’t miss those sleepless nights, but oh those tiny fingers and toes, and those beautiful little smiles :-)
Hope you enjoy your weekend and get some much needed sleep.

Awww! How cute — a much better reason to miss BlogHer than me on my lazy butt — enjoying sitting here in my shorts and not worrying about what I wear, what my hair looks like or who I am talking to. — maybe next year!

Have a great weekend!

I love that…the fog of Motherhood! Ha! I recently left my job to stay home with our 3 little ones and another mother said to me…’so are you just going to stay at home now then?’ Who said anything about JUST??? There are no justs in my life…I run a big house with a small business and keep our family hopping as well!

I’m just saying…your family appreciates you even when they forget to tell you!

Sleeping is great isn’t it? It seems like we never get enough! I can definitely relate to the Fog Of Motherhood, all except for the dog thing. We don’t have one of those… yet. :-)

Happy Blog Hop!

Make that a 2-year-old and a 3-month-old, and I know EXACTLY what you’re talking about (right down to the ear-shattering toddler rendition of “SpongeBob”)!

Sending a “hello” over to you from the Blog Hop – it helps to know that there are other moms out there fumbling through the baby-days without knowing whether to life or cry.

And, for the record, on most days I just do both.

:)

I had to laugh at this as I have many of them days today is one of them. The darn dog chewed my vacuum cord. Nope nothing left of the cord to salvage to fix. So no vacuum. Then the dog decideds to help him self to left over supper on the stove and SHATTER goes my pyrex dish all over the floor. Screaming baby in her crib as I couldn’t let her walk around with glass on the floor. Sigh…. I know them days all too well. LOL Stopping by from the blog hop to say hello!

Oh yes, I know that fog all too well. It settles in here every day, it seems. Oh, and my 2-month-old came at 37 weeks. Must be a May baby thing ;-)

I guess I need a restoration of hope after all the yucky stuff I hear all the time. Watching the news doesn’t help either…LOL.

Fog of Motherhood…that’s awesome! And so dead on! What’s even better is I started hearing my dog dry-heaving (only dry-heaving, thankfully) in the hallway just as I was reading the puking dog part. Geez, did I jump! HA!

I fully understand the need for Adult conversation….I have two sets of twins, a 6 month old and a 18 month old grandbaby.

The Tragedy is when you look at the adult next to you and all you can manage is sticking your index finger between lips and start moving it up and down “bidabidabida”

That’s normally what happens for us. Great Blog. Hop on over to visit my house when you have time.

I love your tagline–The Fog of Motherhood. My kids are a bit older than yours so the fog has lifted slightly. I do remember the baby and toddler years and how thick the fog was at that time.

Glad I stopped by from the blog hop! Better late than never, right?!
