Ouch!
My tongue hurts really bad.
I’ve been biting it for weeks.
Really hard.
I mean, I really have to clamp down on it.
I nearly bit clean through it a couple weeks ago when Sara Palin arrived on the scene.
See, it’s an election year. I’m fascinated by American politics. I have some pretty strong opinions. I would love nothing more than to sit here and outline every last one of them for you.
In great detail.
And try to sway you to my point of view.
However, I realize that you don’t really care who I think should be president. That’s not what my blog is about. I’m not an expert, and don’t want to pretend to be. It’s a far too divisive subject, and I don’t want to have an in box full of comments telling me how wrong I am.
In fact, when I loosened my tongue just a little the other day, and let it slip that I am a fan of Sara Palin and a conservative, I’m pretty sure I lost five subscribers. Really? You don’t want to read my cookie recipes because I lean a little to the right?
Wack!
Stop that! Stop that right now!
I had to slap myself. I was about to launch into a tirade. The exact kind I’m trying to avoid.
See what I mean?
It’s so hard. So very, very hard for me to keep quiet on this subject.
I am not going to see John McCain and Palin on Wednesday as reported earlier. It turns out the tickets I was told were available are not. That should come as a relief to you more liberal readers out there. You will not be subjected to photos of his campaign rally, for now. I’m sure he’ll be back. I will get my hands on some tickets.
Oh, shoot! There went five more subscribers.
Aren’t there any other conservatives out there in the blog-o-sphere?
O.K. I’m going to stop before I lose all of you.
I’ll try really hard not to mention politics any more. But if you should click through one day to find that I posted my dissertation on the American political landscape, I’m sorry. I must have lost the grip on my tongue. Just skip it and scroll down to the cookie recipe.
We can all agree on cookies, can’t we?

Hey - It’s YOUR blog, and YOUR right as an American to speak your mind. In fact, it’s your privilege and honor as an American! At first glance, I’d be on the other end of your political teeter-totter, but you know what? I bet if we talked at length, we’d find areas where we agree. In fact, if I recall correctly from past blog posts and related comments, we DO agree on some things. Politics doesn’t always have to be polarizing.
And if people stop reading your blog because they disagree with you, what is lost, really? I’m quite sure there are posts on MY blog with which you COMPLETELY disagree, but I think you still trot over there every so often.
So post away, fellow woman mommy blogger! I’d welcome your comments, perspective, and the chance to engage in the meaningful, impassioned, respectful discussion in which I *know* well informed and well-intentioned Americans can engage.
I finally figured out how to use my comment email responder, so I’m trying it out on you.
I like “meaningful, impassioned, respectful discussions”. I guess I just don’t want to lure in the few disrespectful people out there. I’ve seem some discussions elsewhere, and it can get pretty vicious.
I actually have a side blog, which I don’t get to enough, that I use for those rants and praise I know will cause people to yell at me. It is just for me to say those things that need to be said.
Happy Constitution Day! Celebrate Freedom!
I don’t really care what way people lean. It’s your opinion and you can like whomever you want. I am still undecided on the whole issue.
I used to say I was a conservative Republican. Now after
Mitch got elected, I’m just conservative. You know I have been dressing and combing my hair this way since junior high and I’m not gonna change now.
And, No!. We can’t agree on the cookie. I don’t like ginger and molasses. Shew fly pie is awful. Just give me your Mother’s chocolate chip cookies. Now that is a
meal!
American politics are more fascinating from outside the country. It’s so interesting and sometimes alarming once you get another country’s perspective from inside the country. The view from Australia is much much different than I ever expected. I’ve learned not to make it public that I voted for Bush…lest I be ostracized. I am a conservative, but that doesn’t go very far in the world…I mean in a broader since than just America’s boundaries. I’m eager for my absentee ballot to arrive so I can vote. But, I can’t count on the media to inform me of the candidates.
I say blog whatever you want. It’s your blog. And…it’s still a free country, right? Is it a free blog-o-sphere?
There are others out there just like you so don’t worry about it.
I try not to cover politics too much simply because I don’t want to deal with negative comments. That’s not to say I am not willing to hear another point of view but it’s funny when you post something completely fun and still get negative feed back. Heaven forbid your just writing to have some fun and get to know people because you talk to little ones all day long. teeheehee.
Well I am with you. Say what you want it’s your blog and stop bitting your tongue and let it all hang out
I enjoyed the visit to your site. I have been biting my tongue also.
I have been tagged by my wonderful friend Tracy Cavelli… So I am supposed to post 8 random facts about me and then choose 8 people to get tagged! I chose you!
First, the rules:1. Each player starts with eight random facts/habits about themselves.2. People who are tagged need to write their own blog about their eight things and post these rules.3. At the end of your blog, you need to choose eight people to get tagged and list their names.4. Don’t forget to leave them a comment telling them they’re tagged, and to read your blog.
